Allow me to take you back to the 13th of August, a cold summery morning to join our quest to photograph the elusive Kingfisher. If anyone has experience of kingfishers you will know that they do not land for long espically when they have young to feed. I got to the riverbank just after 6am, covered myself in ferns and grass just above a possible landing site i had identified.
Out of the corner of my eye i seen a little blue flash in my lens, my heart started to race as if it sparked panic and confusion, i pressed the shutter of the camera which sounded like a machine gun in battle, meanwhile doing my best to get him into frame and produce a half respectful effort. After a couple of seconds he disappeared, not a trace.
Eventually my heart re-gained its normal rhythm and using my camera i looked back on my results and smiled to myself.
I took this photo just after 7am. He only landed once in 3 hours of waiting! was it worth it? i think yes! - brian
